Comparison of indices – closing 3rd January 20 vs 27th December 19
The trend continues in the first week of 2020. Nifty50 closed marginally (-0.2%) below last Friday’s closing. Midcap gained 1.7%% and Smallcap gained 3.5%. Amongst sectoral and thematic indices, Metal +3.2%, PSE +1.6% and Realty 1.2% made gains. Bank -1.1% and Auto -0.5% closed weaker.

Bank credit rises 7.1% to Rs 99.47 trillion: RBI – RBI data shows that Banks’ credit and deposits grew by 7.10% and 10.09% to Rs 99.47 trillion and Rs 130.08 trillion in the fortnight ended December 20, 2019
- GST collections rise 9% to Rs 1.03 lakh crore in December – The finance ministry in its latest data has showed that GST collections surged about 9% in December 2019 to Rs 1,03,184 crore, from Rs 94,726 crore a year earlier. It was a second time in a row, the GST revenue collection remained above the Rs 1 lakh crore mark.
- FDI into India increases 15% to $26 billion during H1FY20 – The commerce and industry ministry’s latest data has showed that FDI into India grew 15% to $26 billion during H1FY20 as compared to $22.66 billion during April-September of 2018-19, despite a slowdown in the global economy.
