
Equity Market Commentary for the week

Indian markets settled higher at the end of the week. Nifty 50 ended with a weekly gain of 2.4% whereas Midcap and Smallcap gained 2.3% and 3.7% respectively.

India Composite PMI for the month of July has slipped to 37.2 from 37.8 in the previous month, whereas car sales has dipped 12% in July (YoY)
- Sectoral front: Bank had a stellar performance gaining 10%, Realty gained 4% after Maharashtra Govt announced cut in stamp duty. FMCG (-1.1%) and PSE (-1.2%) closed lower.
Debt and Commodity Market Commentary for the week
- Yield on the 10-year benchmark paper (5.79% GS 2030) closed at 6.10%, 4 bps lower over last week.
- Gold and Silver prices closed lower this week losing 2.07% and 0.8% respectively. Though silver made a smart recovery on Friday.
